The 10 Commandments of Positive Living

Home » Blog » The 10 Commandments of Positive Living

Here at Positive Living, we firmly believe you can enrich your life and improve it by following simple, yet very powerful holistic sets of rules:

  1. Practice compassion at all times: Primarily, practice compassion with yourself. Do your best every day and don’t be too hard on yourself if you feel you’re not where you should be yet. How would you teach a child to learn something, you would do it in a  calm,  caring way, wouldn’t you? Similarly, treat yourself with love and patience, as we all have a child within that loves to be taught without any judgment or harshness.

  1. Practice self-care: It’s not just a social media buzzword, we all need the recharge. Taking time out and looking after yourself is a genuinely beneficial tool for mental and physical health. You cannot give what you don’t have inside yourself, you can only give the best to others and to your career when you have the best in you, as simple as that!

  1. Make decisions that align with your core values: Stick to your gut, and don’t put yourself in situations where you feel a compromise would weigh too heavy on you. Following your intuition is the natural state of any human, our intuition is never wrong, because that is the connection to yourself, to the authenticity within.

  1. Meditate and practice mindfulness: Centering your thoughts, centering yourself, and just focusing on your inner peace for even a few minutes every day is excellent for your psychological well-being.

  1. Be self-aware: Pay attention to your thoughts. Be the guardian of your internal world. Pause and reflect on why you feel the way you do because ultimately,  the way you perceive the world is how you create the world you live in and what you attract towards yourself.

  1. You reap what you sow: Remember that before each major step.

  1. Treat your body as your temple: Eat right and exercise as a sign of self-love. Good physical activity works in a joint venture with your mental health, they are both connected. Working out releases endorphins that leave you feeling happier and calmer while the sweat flushes out all the toxins from your system. Not to mention, looking good brings about a confidence boost.

  1. Set realistic goals for yourself: We all need a direction in life, otherwise, we are like boats floating in an open sea. Setting up goals is the most important step if you are ready to grow professionally or in your personal life. Setting up goals will give you the push to wake up in the morning and go for it. When doing so, pay extra attention to your motivations as well. It is only when your goals are meaningful for you that you will work towards achieving them.

  1. Kindness is key: Be more positive, loving, and encouraging towards yourself and within your relationships. Be the person you want the other person to be for you! Be present for those who need you and be patient with those who can’t be there for you. Practice empathy (put yourself in other people’s shoes )and think how would you have liked for the other person to act with you, a lot of hurt and resentment goes away with this exercise.

  1. Think positive: Practice the law of attraction, it is scientific and uses the principle of quantum physics, what you think all day long, that’s what your brain will attract because the brain does what it thinks is for your own benefit.
